For Oklahoma students planning on attending university, financial aid is important. Oklahoma’s Promise offers qualified Oklahoma students an opportunity to earn a scholarship for college tuition.
To qualify for Oklahoma’s Promise you must be in 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade and an Oklahoma resident. This scholarship covers an amount equal to a student’s undergraduate tuition charges, not including fees, books, supplies, room, and board. It is available to students planning to attend university in Oklahoma within 3 years of their high school graduation and allows five years of study in university.
Oklahoma’s Promise is income based and uses the students’ parents’ Adjusted Gross Income to determine if the student is eligible. The AGI of the student’s parent(s) for the most recently completed federal tax year must fall within one of the following categories:
- $60,000 or less for parents with 1-2 dependent children
- $70,000 or less for parents with 3-4 dependent children*
- $80,000 or less for parents with 5 or more dependent children*
*Documentation of dependent children from the federal income tax return is required.
