In order to complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you’ll first need to create your StudentAid.gov Account.
What is your StudentAid.gov Account?
This what allows you to sign in to the FAFSA, complete your application, and also acts as your electronic signature.
You must have an account to do the following:
- Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form online
- Complete other online forms (such as the Master Promissory Note) required to receive aid
- Review the federal student aid you’ve received
Everyone filling out a FAFSA, whether a student or a contributor, needs a StudentAid.gov account, so if you are a student, make sure your parents have created one. If you’re a parent, make sure you have your own that you can use to help your student complete their application.
To get an account visit studengaid.gov – you will need your social security number and a unique email address.
If you’re not sure whether you need one, you can check out our resources, Who Needs a StudentAid.gov Account? and then use our StudentAid.gov Account Worksheet to make sure you’re creating one correctly.
Good luck!
